Mr. Melvin James Finley
May 14, 1951 – March 22, 2023
Mr. Melvin James Finley, 71, of Haynesville, Louisiana, formerly of Stamps, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at his residence in Haynesville, Louisiana after a very long bout with health issues. He was born to the late Mr. Andrew Finley, Sr. and Mrs. Audie Perry-Finley in Stamps, Arkansas, May 14, 1951. Mr. Finley had been a very hardworking man who did work as a pulpwood contractor and logger until his health just wouldn’t allow him to do anything else.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents and one son, Kenyatta DeMarcy Finley. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Sandy Kay Sanders-Finley. Two sons, Kevin Demond Finley of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Melvin James Finley, Jr. of Shongaloo, Louisiana. Two daughters, Kenya Denise (Derrick) Beene of Haynesville, Louisiana and Katrina Deshaun (Ray) Biddle of Waldo, Arkansas. Four brothers, Artie Finley, Andrew Finley, Jr., Chester Finley and Carl Ray Finley all of Stamps, Arkansas. Five grandchildren, Ashanta Beene, Joh’Nathan Beene, Drakerion Beene, Daliha Grant and Janiya Grant. Four great-grandchildren, Jayceon Scott, Kameron Grant, Ma’Laiyah Jefferson and A’Nyla Jefferson, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Service for Mr. Finley will be held on Saturday April 1, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. in the Hamilton-Davis Funeral Home Chapel; 415 East First Street; Stamps, Arkansas, where Rev. Sylvester Tatum will serve as Officiant and Eulogist. A public visitation will be held on Friday March 31, 2023 from 11:00 A.M. until 3:30 P.M. interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery immediately following the service.
