Charles Ray Ellis, Jr.
July 21, 1970 – September 24, 2023
Mr. Charles Ray Ellis, Jr., 53, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 24, 2023, in Texarkana, Texas. He was surrounded by family and will be eternally missed. Mr. Ellis was a loving husband, daddy, grandaddy and friend.
He was born in Plain Dealing Louisiana to Mr. Charles Ellis, Sr. and the late Mrs. Mary Helen Moss-Ellis, July 21, 1970, and was the only son born to the two of them. He was preceded in death by his mother Mrs. Mary Helen, one of his bonus daughters, Brickney Williams, and a sister, Ms. Janice Ellis.
He is survived by the love of his life and wife of eighteen years, Mrs. Beverly (Bell) James-Ellis, of Texarkana, Texas, his father, Mr. Charles Ellis, Sr., two daughters, Shayquiczeya Ellis and Shayneczeya Ellis both of Texarkana, Texas. His bonus children, Patrick (Tatiana) James of Texarkana, Arkansas, Nickholas Williams of Sherman, Texas, Victoria Trammell of Texarkana, Arkansas and Earleshia Trammell of Bradley, Arkansas.
Mr. Ellis had worked as a truck driver for the Miller County Highway and Streets Department until his health failed and forced him to have to quit. He had been a fighter, battling with the effects of cancer for more than eleven years and even on the worse and last days he continued to smile and was able to feed himself. There was no way to keep him down. He was a man of faith, a man of substance and a man who knew well what the Bible says, in 2 Thessalonians 3: 10, “For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.” Mr. Ellis was true to that word and worked until he just couldn’t anymore. He loved the outdoors, he fished, loved shooting at the gun range and especially loved spending time with his family, more specifically his wife and caretaker, Beverly, their children, and grandchildren.
His service is scheduled for Saturday October 7, 2023, at Hamilton-Davis Funeral Home Chapel; 415 East First Street; Stamps, Arkansas 71860, where Pastor Tommy Law will serve as Officiant and Eulogist. Interment will be immediately following the service at St. Mary Cemetery, Lafayette County Road 2, Bradley, Arkansas 71826. There will not be a public viewing or visitation, except after the eulogy.
